Programme Introduction




1. With the announcement of the ESC recommendations and Budget 2010, several pro-business initiatives and incentive schemes such as Productivity and Innovation Credit, Infocomm@SME, Working Training Support Scheme, and Business Capabilities for Internationalisation have been introduced and more details are being unveiled as they were finalized.

2. The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) in support of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), is pleased to have invited representatives from the various government agencies to share with our members. A good understanding of the various initiatives and incentive schemes will enable companies to benefit optimally from them to build and upgrade enterprise capabilities.

3. To further encourage businesses to embrace the ESC recommendations and Budget 2010 initiatives and ride on opportunities in the new landscape, the organisers are honoured to have invited the Ministers Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Mr Lim Swee Say, Mr Gan Kim Yong and Mrs Lim Hwee Hua to dialogue with the participants.

• Significant tax deductions for investments in a broad range of activities
• 250% of tax deduction for the first $300,000 of qualifying investment expenditure. The tax deductions will be 250% of the eligible expenditures incurred on each of the activities
10.10am Working Training Support Scheme by WDA

• Workfare Training Support (WTS) scheme encourages low-wage workers to upgrade their skills through training and comes into effect on 1 July 2010.
• It covers training courses offered under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) system, including courses on Employability Skills.
• Three components to the WTS, namely (a) Employer Grant, (b) Training Commitment Award and (c) Workfare-Skill Up.

• An integrated approach to assist SMEs in adopting ICT to improve their productivity & growth.
• Include new initiatives like iSPRINT that provides one-stop assistance and funding to SMEs with differing infocomm needs.
