Programme Introduction




1. The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), in support of SPRING Singapore would like to invite you to participate in an industry dialogue on the future ISO 26000 - Social Responsibility.

2. Background on the ISO/CD 26000

The ISO is currently in the midst of developing an international guidance standard ISO 26000 on Social Responsibility. The ISO 26000 is at a Committee Draft stage (ISO/CD 26000) and is expected to be published in Sep 2010. This International guidance standard is for voluntary use and is not intended or appropriate for certification purposes or regulatory or contractual use. It helps organisations better understand social responsibility by providing practical guidance for implementation.

3. Intent of Industry dialogue

As the future ISO/26000 is expected to be published in 2010, there lies a need to ensure that concerns of the main standard-user (industry stakeholder) are raised and heard pertaining to critical issues of current ISO/CD 26000. SPRING has received information from overseas bodies on concerns pertaining to potential technical barriers to trade that might lead to increase in implementation costs of future ISO 26000. We would like to seek feedback on the impact towards Singapore companies.
