Programme Introduction

1. Ageing Workforce – Threat or Opportunity?

Older workers cannot work as effectively as younger workers True or False?
Cognitive impairment is an inevitable part of the ageing process. True or False?
Older workers usually take longer to learn something new. True or False?
Older workers tend to react more slowly than younger workers. True or False?

2. Would you like to know the answers to the above? If so, come and listen to this session. Research-based evidence will be presented to debunk the myths and reveal the facts about age-associated changes and older workers. These perceptions and beliefs about older persons need to be recognized and addressed as they affect our attitudes, interactions and ultimately our ability to deploy them effectively in the workplace. Tips on how older workers’ strengths could be harnessed will also be offered. At this session, you will learn about the programmes and activities of the Centre for Seniors and how the Centre can assist your organisation.

3. You will also hear from Dr. Tan Eng Chun, Assistant Director, Health for Life Dept at Alexandra Hospital who will share on Alexandra Hospital’s (HOP@Work) Programme, an International award winning programme that promotes health and lifestyle practices for mature workers. With the upcoming Re-Employment legislation that requires companies to re-employ their existing workers, beyond the retirement age of 62, effective health maintenance and promotion is a key aspect of building a healthy workforce.

4. This is a sharing session jointly organized by the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) and the Tripartite Centre for Fair Employment Practices (TAFEP). All SNEF members are strongly encouraged to attend sharing and networking session!
