1. The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), together with Employer Alliance (EA), is pleased to bring you a Talk on Work-Life which showcases the state of work-life and employers best practices in Hong Kong.
2. Work-life integration is a necessary business imperative for organizations in the very near future. Research has shown that organizations that employ work-life strategies to help their employees balance their life priorities as a human capital strategy, attract and retain the best talents, increasing both productivity and work engagement. The Employer Alliance is a network of corporations committed to create an enabling work environment to enhance work-life integration.
3. With the success of the EA inaugural learning platform in January 2008, we are pleased to announce that we have invited an overseas speaker, Ms Shalini Mahtani, from Community Business to share on work-life best practices in Hong Kong at this session.
4. Profile of Ms Shalini Mahtani:
a. Shalini Mahtani is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Community Business, a leading non- profit organisation in Hong Kong working with some of the world’s largest companies in corporate social responsibility (CSR). Shalini works with leadership in these companies on matters of CSR strategy for Asia, corporate community investment and diversity in the workplace. Shalini has written numerous publications and is a frequent speaker on these subjects. In 2005, Shalini was awarded the “Chief Executives Commendation for Community Service” by the Hong Kong Government for her contribution to the ethnic minorities of Hong Kong. In 2007, Shalini was named Asia 21 Young Leader by the United States’ Asia Society
b. In a personal capacity, Shalini is External Diversity Advisor to Merrill Lynch in Asia Pacific and is a founding board director of The Women’s Foundation in Hong Kong. Shalini is also founder of the Suddhananda Vidyalaya Ammapettai School in Madras, India- a village school for first generation school attendees.
c. Before Community Business, Shalini had a career in accounting and banking. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is married with two children.
