Programme Introduction
1. As announced on 5 MAR by the Minister of State for Education and Manpower Mr Gan Kim Yong, a tripartite workgroup led by SNEF is preparing a set of guidelines to help employers implement re-employment of older workers. The guidelines are to be finalised by end 2009. The tripartite partners will consult widely before finalising the guidelines. Meanwhile the workgroup has drawn up a checklist of good re-employment practices.
2. SNEF, together with our tripartite partners MOM and NTUC, is pleased to organize a Singapore Tripartism Forum Dialogue on “Good Practices on the Re-Employment of Older Workers” to share with you the checklist. Companies which have implemented good re-employment practices will also be sharing their experiences. The Chairman of the tripartite workgroup, Mr Alexander C. Melchers and members Mr Ong Yen Her (MOM), Ms Cham Hui Fong (NTUC) and Mr Koh Juan Kiat (SNEF) will join the panel discussion and take questions.
