Programme Introduction
1. The Tripartite Committee on the Employability of Older Workers, tasked to examine ways to improve the employability and cost competitiveness of older workers, released its interim recommendations in Feb 2006. The Committee will be discussing its final recommendations at this seminar.
2. Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), together with our tripartite partners MOM and NTUC are jointly organizing this Seminar - “Enhancing Employment Opportunities for An Ageing Workforce” as part of the activities under the Singapore Tripartism Forum (STF).
3. At this Seminar, Minister of State (Education and Manpower) Gan Kim Yong, SNEF President Stephen Lee and NTUC Asst SG Halimah Yaacob will form a panel to take questions. The tripartite partners will also share with the employers the measures that can be taken to help older workers stay employable and how WDA’s enhanced ADVANTAGE scheme can assist you to recruit, retain and re-employ mature and older workers. You can also hear from companies which have successfully implemented innovative measures to hire and retain older workers to benefit from their experience.
